As we continue to grow and diversify our content output we are looking for an Audience Engagement Executive to join our expanding Audience and Growth team. The role will be responsible for overseeing PinkNews’ communication with it’s online audiences – turning PinkNews into a ‘two-way street’ where we communicate effectively with our online audience and subscriber base. 

 

You will report to the Social Media and Community Manager and support the team with our aim to turn new readers into returning readers, returning readers into loyal readers, and loyal readers into paid subscribers and app users.  We are dedicated to achieving global equality for LGBT+ people by informing, engaging and empowering our customers through award-winning content, live events and bespoke products and services and our audience and growth team is central to this mission. 

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor and moderate comments across the PinkNews social channels, replying to messages, comments and feedback from our readers, escalating urgent queries.
  • Run regular polls and surveys of our readers in partnership with the Product team
  • Compile and send newsletters, push notifications and other content distribution tasks
  • Support and assist with the development of new audience engagement projects
  • Manage a comment/complaint/feedback/ message log so people can check if something is being dealt with
  • Set up and manage multiple Facebook groups under the PinkNews umbrella
  • Work closely with the Product team to assist in growing newsletter registrations, MyPinkNews registrations and subscriptions
  • Manage the PinkNews Advocacy Platform, which will help connect readers who care about a particular LGBT+ issue to those advocating for equality in our society
  • Work closely with the wider Audience and Editorial team to come up with new ways to engage our audience via social media, e.g. CTA’s that can be turned into features
  • Play an active role in company culture and live the PinkNews values
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, finding innovative ways to enhance performance across our social platforms

 

Key Skills and Experience

  • A passion for LGBT+ content and a belief in equality for all
  • 1-3 years experience in a social media, brand ambassador, journalism or marketing role
  • Strong copywriting and community management skills 
  • A clear, understanding and sensitive communication style 
  • An understanding of current social media trends 
  • Experience of writing weekly and monthly reports on social media activity
  • Internal and external stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledgeable of social insights and experience using social listening and reporting tools such as Falcon, Sprout Social or Hootsuite
  • Passionate about social media and keeping up to date with current digital trends Experience working with data and reporting on progress
