Pro-gun bigot Lauren Boebert blames post-Club Q backlash on ‘left being p**sed I won election’

Gun-loving Republican Lauren Boebert said the backlash against her following the Colorado Springs shooting was because “the left is p**sed I won my election”.
Following the mass shooting at Club Q, an LGBTQ+ venue in Colorado Springs, on Saturday (19 November), Boebert took to Twitter to insist that the “victims and their families are in my prayers”.
But she received swift criticism for pushing the exact same hatred that may have motivated the shooting, with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez telling her: “You have played a major role in elevating anti-LGBT+ hate rhetoric and anti-trans lies while spending your time in Congress blocking even the most common sense gun safety laws.
“You don’t get to ‘thoughts and prayers’ your way out of this. Look inward and change.”
But, in an appearance on the far-right news programme Real America hosted by Dan Ball, Boebert has declared that she only received backlash because “the Left is p**sed that I won” reelection in the recent midterms.
“They’re trying to find something to go after me about,” she said.
“You know, I expressed my concern for the family, for the victims and the way that they came after me is absolutely disgusting. And you know, we’re all sick of this.”
Boebert says she’s also a victim of the Club Q shooting: “I’ve been accused of just about every mass shooting there has been. I’ve been blamed for all of it. It has to come to an end. Lauren Boebert whined that she has been victimised after every mass shooting in the US
Taking absolutely no accountability for her persistent use of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric, Lauren Boebert continued: “I have been accused of just about every mass shooting there has been since the left learned of my name.
“Whether it’s Uvalde or the King Soopers shooting in Boulder, Colorado, or the Buffalo, New York, shooting or even Paul Pelosi getting hammered, I have been blamed for all of this and it’s absolutely ridiculous.
“At what point are they going to start blaming the actual criminals or the lack of enforcement of the laws that they already have on the books here in Colorado?”
But just this week, a former FBI official suggested that if the Colorado Springs shooting suspect were to have consumed content from the likes of Boebert or Fox News host Tucker Carlson, they should be subjected to “civil consequences”.
“This toxic mix of hatred, plus clinging to assault weapons,” said the former assistant director for counterintelligence at the FBI, Frank Figliuzzi.
“It’s about instilling fear, and the correct response for the rest of us is to step up and push back.”
The suspect is 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich, who was beaten into submission by the bar’s patrons after he opened fire on the eve of Transgender Day of Remembrance.
Aldrich was seen for the first time during an El Paso court appearance via video call, where they appeared slumped over, bruised, and barely able to speak.
Their next hearing is due to take place on 6 December.
