Britney Spears calls out mother Lynne and lifts the lid on ‘forced’ mental health facility ordeal

Britney Spears has called out her mother Lynne Spears for ignoring desperate texts sent during her “forced” stay in a mental health facility.

It was announced in 2019 that Britney had been admitted to a mental health facility after she cancelled her second Las Vegas residency.

At the time, Britney’s team cited emotional distress resulting from her father’s own ill-health. But during her conservatorship legal battle, Britney alleged that she was “forced into [the mental health facility against her will… as punishment for standing up for herself”.

Now, Britney has published text messages she sent to her mother, Lynne Spears, while in the facility.

In since-deleted screenshots, Britney complained about the high doses of drugs she was being given.

“He says he wants to UP the seraquil… I thought it was a sleep aid but it’s for bipolar,” she said.

WebMD confirms seraquil is used to treat “certain mental/mood conditions” including bipolar.

She went on to say that she “literally felt [from] all the sick medicine in my stomach”, adding: “I feel like he’s trying to kill me. I swear to god I do.”

The caption to the post claimed she received “no response” from Lynne.

Britney also posted texts sent to her then court-appointed lawyer.

“I want to talk about going to court when this is done and getting my medical rights,” she wrote, also expressing a desire to be able to spend the night with her boyfriend, go on holiday, and to hire new security guards.

In the same post, she also shared messages sent to her friend Jansen Fitzgerald asking for advice. She claimed that she never received a response from her.

Britney Spears’ ‘friend’ claims phone was being monitored

After the post was deleted Fitzgerald posted a rebuttal to her Instagram story, showing an apparent reply to Britney Spears’ messages.

Fitzgerald claimed thousands of messages were sent to a court investigator in 2019 to help Britney Spears.

She wrote: “I did respond!! I have always felt like some of my messages were deleted.

“I love my friends more than life itself and would go to the ends of the earth for them.

“We were also very cautious of what we would write in messages because we had a feeling her phone was being monitored.”

Lynne Spears’ reposted Fitzgerald’s story to her Instagram with the caption: “I have all the ‘whole conversations’ as well!”
Addressing her daughter, she added: “I hurt for you that you feel the people who love you the most betrayed you! Let me come to you! I love you!”

Lynne did not post any screenshots that contained her responses to Britney’s messages.

Britney says mother has ‘some nerve’

Although the popstar deleted her initial post, Britney took to Instagram once again to respond to Fitzgerald and to her estranged mother.

Addressing her mother, she wrote: “Yo ma did you also let people know that’s one of the only time you text me back ???

“Play the responsible perfect parent and go to church in Louisiana … it’s a joke !!! You all ruined it for me… I don’t ever remember getting a text from you !!!

“You have some nerve showing your texts when you guys hurt me so bad its not even funny !!!
“You abused me… yes I will say it and it blows my mind that you still play the prayer loving mom.”

Since winning her freedom Britney Spears has been highly critical of her family, and has claimed that her mother was instrumental in instigating her conservatorship, which ended in November 2021.

In November 2021, shortly after winning her freedom, she posted: “My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago… but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea!!!! I will never get those years back… she secretly ruined my life…”
