A teaser trailer for the upcoming American Gigolo series has been released and Twitter is thirsty.

The short clip shows its star, Jon Bernthal with an open shirt, then shirtless and then almost pant-less – and it’s safe to say Twitter went into meltdown.

The series will premiere in 2022 exclusively on streaming service Showtime, which you can sign up to at showtime.com.

After dropping the seven-second teaser trailer Showtime revealed that the official trailer will be released on 14 July, and it’ll probably break the Internet.

One tweet reads: “solidarity with everyone in the replies and qts having an absolute meltdown over a seven second teaser”.

Another said: “This man is too fine”.

Somebody else said the Twitter timeline will be “ungodly” when the full trailer drops, and others used the Tiffany Pollard meme where she says she’ll be waiting with “open arms, open legs and an open mouth”.

Back in April, the actor said he was not sexy enough for the American Gigolo reboot during an interview with GQ.

“I do not believe that I possess any kind of natural sex appeal,” Bernthal told the magazine. “I’ve always looked at myself as this weird-looking guy.”

This led to one fan responding to the trailer with a screenshot of the article, saying: “I hope jon bernthal sees the replies for this so that he knows”.

The series is based on the 1980 film of the same name that was written and directed by Paul Schrader.

It stars Bernthal in the lead role as Julian Kaye, who is also the main protagonist of the original film.

The show co-stars Gretchen Mol, Rosie O’Donnell, Lizzie Brocheré, Gabriel LaBelle and Leland Orser.

A release date is yet to be announced for the series, but it’s expected to be late 2022.

The plot reads: “Julian Kaye, 15 years after being arrested for murder and struggling to find his footing in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry, seeks the truth about the frame that sent him to prison all those years ago and also hoping to reconnect with his one true love, Michelle.”
