Spice Girls have teased plans for Spiceworld’s 25th anniversary and fans are getting very excited.

The iconic band posted an updated logo for their second album featuring a spinning globe alongside a silver band to mark the quarter century milestone.

It sent fans into a frenzy about what the plans for the anniversary might be, including new editions of the album as well as a world tour.

It reached number one on the UK Albums Chart as well as the top spot in 13 other countries and the top three in Australia, Canada and US.

It marked their final album featuring Ginger Spice before she left the group in 1998 before reuniting in 2007 for a sold-out arena tour.

Since then the group reunited as a foursome – without Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham – for a huge stadium tour in the UK and Ireland in 2019.

Fans are hoping that they’ll be back together again for another show to celebrate 25 years since the release of Spiceworld.

What is Spiceworld25?

It’ll see the iconic girl group celebrate 25 years since the release of their second studio album, Spiceworld.

Last year, the group marked 25 years since the release of the debut album Spice with the release of Spice25. This was a repackaged edition of the album featuring rare demos, previously-unreleased track “Feed My Love”, remastered Spatial Audio recordings and some new formats.

This included bundles with individual coloured vinyl for each member, cassettes, brand new digital package and a special zoetrope vinyl edition and it’s still available to buy here.

Fans can expect something similar with Spiceworld25, which is expected to be celebrated on 1 November, the date it was originally released back in 1997.

Are the Spice Girls going on tour?

Following the announcement of Spiceworld25 fans were quick to assume that it meant the group would also be announcing a world tour.

This is because the Instagram post was accompanied by a graphic of a globe and “Spiceworld” in a silver banner. However it’s actually an updated version of the Spiceworld logo.

One fan commented: “If there’s a world tour whose coming with me?!?!”.

Another said, “we not missing out this time!!!!” and somebody else wrote, “It’s coming, take my money”.

Their last reunion tour in 2019 only visited venues in the UK and Ireland, with fans flying from across the globe to watch the band perform their first shows in 11 years.

So many are hoping that this time round they’ll head to more countries where they were hugely successful in the 90s.

Earlier this year it was reported that plans for another tour were scrapped. Sources told The Sun that future plans for an animated film, a 2023 world tour and other gigs have been binned amid COVID-19.

“It was going to be brilliant,” the insider said. “But COVID killed the momentum.”

“Now it’s done again,” the source claimed. “There’s nothing on the agenda and they’re focusing on their own things.”
