DC fans call for Elliot Page to replace Ezra Miller as The Flash: ‘He’d be perfect’

Elliot Page and Ezra Miller

With Ezra Miller expected to be fired from the DC Extended Universe, fans think there’s a clear replacement for The Flash: Elliot Page.

Miller’s future in the DC Extended Universe – which they joined in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – has been in doubt since two parents filed for a restraining order against the actor on March 30, accusing them of grooming their 18-year-old child.

Since then, further accusations have come to light, including claims Miller brandished a gun in front of a 12-year-old, leading to a temporary harassment protection order for a family in Massachusetts.

Miller will appear in their first standalone DC film, The Flash, in 2023, having completed filming in 2021. This has created something of a headache for DC Films and parent company Warner Bros.

“There is no winning this for Warner Bros,” a source told Deadline. “The hope is that the scandal will remain at a low level before the movie is released, and hope for the best to turn out.”

Fans, however, think they’ve come up with a winning solution.

“Am I the only one who thinks Elliot Page should replace Ezra Miller as The Flash?” asked one user, who most certainly wasn’t alone in the thought.

“He’d be perfect,” one person replied.

Another chimed in and said: “Just want to take this moment to say Elliot Page would make a great Barry Allen, in case there’s ever a need to, you know, cast a new Flash for whatever reason.”

Others were just happy with the idea of having another excuse to stan Page, with one saying: “Let Elliot Page play The Flash. Let Elliot Page play whoever they want. Let me harbour an embarrassingly gigantic crush on him the entire time.”

Despite the fairly unanimous agreement that Page would make a great Barry Allen, some thought that the actor would be a better fit for a different super-hero role.

Some suggested Marvel snap up the Umbrella Academy star to play its new Wolverine.

Elliot Page recently opened up about how Umbrella Academy incorporated his transition into the show.

Talking to Seth Meyers on Late Night on July 21, Page said: “When we first talked about it, [showrunner Steve Blackman] seemed really excited about incorporating it into the show.”

He explained that trans writer Thomas McBee was bought on board to help rewrite scripts. “I feel proud of it and I’m excited for people to see it,” they continued.

Ezra Miller’s career has hung in the balance since they were first arrested on March 28 for harassment after becoming “agitated” by karaoke singers at a Hawaii bar.

They reportedly “grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman singing karaoke” and “later lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts”.

They were then arrested for a second time on April 19 after allegedly assaulting a woman with a chair in Hawaii after becoming “irate” when asked to leave a private gathering.

After a protective order was granted for the parents of 18-year-old Gibson Iron Eyes on 7 June, authorities said they “have no idea of knowing where [Gibson] and Ezra are to gain help from other jurisdictions” to serve the order.

Since then, a laundry list of accusations against Ezra Miller have been made, including further allegations of abuse.
