Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reads ‘insecure’ Lindsey Graham after ‘assault on democracy’ rant

AOC blasted GOP lawmakers over their willingness to shut down the government over trans healthcare restrictions

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez penned the perfect response to Lindsey Graham whining about an alleged left-wing “assault on democracy”.

The New York representative called out Graham after he posted a tweet on Friday (1 July) praising the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs Wade, the 1973 ruling that made abortion a federal right.

Graham wrote: “There is an assault on democracy in this country, but it is by the Left not the Right. It took us 50 years to overturn Roe vs Wade. We worked hard, won elections, and put conservatives on the court.”

Graham took issue with Democrats suggesting a change to the Senate filibuster rule so that Congress can pass an abortion rights law – an idea Joe Biden has backed.

“Five days after losing at Supreme Court, Democrats want to blow up the Senate,” he wrote.

The rant didn’t end there, as Graham continued to blast Democrats, calling them “crazy” while making a series of baseless claims.

“These people are crazy. They want to pack the Supreme Court. They want to abolish the Electoral College so New York and California can pick the president. They want to federalize all elections so they can ballot-harvest and do away with voter I.D.”

Graham ended his Twitter tirade with a thinly veiled warning, saying: “I’m hoping people in America are watching what they’re planning to do if Republicans don’t take back the Senate.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t having any of it. She responded to Graham’s tirade with a scathing retort that began: “You sound insecure.

She added: “As you should be.

“Your attempt to seize bodily autonomy from millions of women & LGBT+ people is a stain on our country. I don’t care how long you ‘worked’ to seize control of people’s bodies. That right belongs to individuals, not you. We will not comply.”

The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs Wade has sent shockwaves around the world, with millions up in arms.

Abortion clinics around the country have already closed their doors and cancelled appointments in states like Texas, Idaho, Arkansas and Tennessee.
