Hocus Pocus’ Kathy Najimy sends love to Kim Cattrall after Sarah Jessica Parker speaks on rift

Actor Kathy Najimy has caused a stir by sending a public message of support to Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall after Sarah Jessica Parker spoke about their rift.

Najimy, who is starring in the long-awaited Hocus Pocus 2 alongside Parker, sent love to her “brilliant authentic talented beautiful hilarious” friend Kim Cattrall.

Her timing didn’t go unnoticed – hours earlier, The Hollywood Reporter published an interview with Parker in which she addressed Cattrall’s very public criticism of her.

Parker said it was “very painful” to hear Cattrall speak negatively of her time on Sex and the City, adding: “It’s so painful for people to keep talking about this ‘catfight’ — a ‘fight,’ a ‘fight,’ a ‘fight.’

“I’ve never uttered fighting words in my life about anybody that I’ve worked with — ever. There is not a ‘fight’ going on. There has been no public dispute or spat or conversations or allegations made by me or anybody on my behalf. I wouldn’t do it. That is not the way I would have it. So I just wish that they would stop calling this a ‘catfight’ or an ‘argument,’ because it doesn’t reflect [reality]. There has been one person talking.”

Parker also said that a third Sex and the City movie was cancelled due to ‘contractual demands’ that Cattrall made of the film studio, Warner Bros.

“They didn’t feel comfortable meeting where she wanted to meet, and so we didn’t do the movie because we didn’t want to do it without Kim”, she said.

Cattrall has previously said that she opted out of the film because of a plot involving her character, Samantha, receiving “unwanted d**k pics” from Miranda’s 14-year-old son.

Parker confirmed that Cattrall wasn’t asked to take part in reboot series And Just Like That..., because she had made clear that she had moved on.

The interview itself caused a stir, but Najimy’s subsequent tweets sparked even more speculation.

Najimy and Parker will appear together in Hocus Pocus 2 which will be released on Disney+ around Halloween 2022.

The film will also star Drag Race star and all-round icon Ginger Minj as a drag version of Bette Midler’s character, Winifred Sanderson.
