Charli XCX joins Forwards Festival and All Points East lineups because, well, gay rights

Charli XCX is performing at two UK festivals following her sold-out headline tour.

Charli XCX has been announced for the Forwards Festival and All Points East lineups and the gay agenda is in full force.

Following a sold-out UK and Ireland tour, the queen of the gays has been added to the lineups of two festivals.

Charli joins the All Points East on 27 August which is headlined by Disclosure, with James Blake, Koffee and Mura Masa also appearing.

Then on 3 September she will perform a set at the brand new Bristol-based festival, Forwards on 3 September.

She joins the likes of Jamie xx, Little Simz and Fred again.. on that day’s lineup, while Shygirl, Self Esteem and Kae Tempest will also perform across the weekend.

In addition to two main music stages, the festival will feature ‘The Information’, a space for activism, examination, debate and understanding on today’s current affairs and cultural issues.

Fans can expect to hear the likes of “New Shapes”, “Baby” and “Used to Know Me” from the new album, alongside favourites like “Vroom Vroom” and “Boys” during her set.

It’ll be another chance for fans to see the singer live after she recently wrapped up the UK and Ireland leg of her Crash Tour, in support of her number one album.

During a sold-out show at Alexandra Palace she gave a touching speech to fans – all while wrapped in a trans Pride flag emblazoned with Princess Diana’s face.

Some fans said that Charli XCX didn’t realise what was printed on the flag at first and asked: “Oh what’s this… poppers?” before going on to yell, “gay rights!”.

She also took a minute to thank her fans and collaborators for their years-long support.

“You guys, who have just really supported me when no one else believed in me,” she said while tearing up, fan footage showed.

“I was already sweating a lot and now I’m crying so I look like a crazy b***h.”
