Britney Spears has been left “crying for days” as she writes her “cleansing” tell-all memoir.

In capturing a life where she spent almost a quarter of it unable to make her own decisions when it comes to her personal and financial affairs, a 40-year-old Spears has been left dazed.

She wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post this week that she cried for two days after putting her at times tumultuous life experiences on paper, The Mirror reported.

“Writing my book is actually hard after speaking for two hours each time to this lovely lady trying to create drafts…,” she wrote.

“I cry for two days afterwards. I’m like: ‘Jesus Christ, I’ve been through it!’.

“It is incredibly cleansing, yet hard.”

Britney Spears teases her ‘therapeutic’ tell-all book

It comes after Britney Spears let slip about her explosive autobiography earlier this month, seemingly confirming reports from February.

Page Six reported at the time that the singer had scored a $15 million (£11.4 million) deal with top publishing house Simon & Schuster to chronicle her life.

“I’m writing a book at the moment and it’s actually healing and therapeutic,” Britney said.

“It’s also hard bringing up past events in my life … I’ve never been able to express openly !!!”

For nearly 14 years, the “Toxic” hitmaker lived under a conservatorship, a complex legal arrangement that bound her decision-making to others, such as her father Jamie Spears. She had long been silenced and for more than a decade rarely spoke out about the arrangement.

But in a stunning and at times breathless court speech last year, Britney found her voice. She compared the “abusive” conservatorship to “sex trafficking“, alleged that she had been drugged, was forced to work against her will and made to have a birth control device.

Jamie first petitioned the court for the power to govern her daughter’s life in early 2008, citing Britney’s high-profile mental health struggle all caught by an often belligerent and apathetic paparazzi.

The court granted Jamie’s request, giving him, among others, control over Britney’s blossoming career and day-to-day life, from bookings to kitchen cabinet colours.

But a long-trapped Britney was freed last November by a Los Angeles, California, probate judge.

Enjoying her newfound freedom, Britney has seemingly married her long-term boyfriend and professional attractive man, Sam Asghari. The pair are also set to have a baby together after Britney announced she is pregnant.
