Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett and new husband are vision of queer love in red carpet debut
Jonathan Bennett and his husband Jaymes Vaughan were a picture of newlywed bliss as they arrived at the 33rd GLAAD Media Awards.
Speaking to People magazine at the GLAAD awards, Jonathan Bennett gushed: “Married life is great!”
“Of all places that we get to step out for the first time as husbands, we’re stepping out to the GLAAD Media Awards to celebrate LGBTQ representation in the media, and this is what it looks like,” he added. “It is so exciting to be here.”
The 40-year-old, best known for playing heartthrob Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, joked that the awards show was their honeymoon.
“This is our honeymoon! Right now. You’re all invited to our honeymoon. Welcome, welcome,” he said.
“GLAAD deserves so much recognition,” Vaughan, 38, agreed. “I am certain we got to the place of being able to get married and marriage equality because of the work that GLAAD did.”
The pair, who owns LGBT+ travel company OUTbound, told the publication they are planning four trips later this year to celebrate their union.
Bennett shared news of their wedding with fans on 21 March, posting a photo of the pair smiling while wearing black tuxedos and surrounded by their loved ones.
He captioned the post, “Mr & Mr Bennett Vaughan”.
Vaughan, who hosts the entertainment TV show Celebrity Page, followed suit with a romantic note on Twitter.
Happily ever after really does exist!
All because I found you. And all because we are now and forever will be US.
