Brandi Carlile made sure queer love was celebrated at the 2022 Grammys, as she shared a sweet kiss with her wife Catherine Shepherd on the red carpet.

Shortly before wowing the Grammys with an electric performance on Sunday (3 April) night, the 40-year-old and her partner posed up a storm at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as they showered each other with kisses and hugs.

Brandi Carlile and her wife looked picture perfect in stylish suits as they joined Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X and a host of other LGBT+ music stars at the annual event.

While Carlile failed to win a gong on the night, she was still a major talking point after taking to the stage to perform her hit track, “Right on Time”.

Flanked by Phil and Tim Hanseroth in front of a bank of rainbow-coloured lights, the rock star showcased her musical prowess by starting off the performance on the piano before moving to the guitar.

The moment was made all the more special because the artist had been introduced by two of her musical heroes, Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, who received a lifetime achievement award.

Sharing a selfie with the pair afterwards, Carlile stated: “won SO big tonight ❤️❤️❤️ @bonnieraittofficial @jonimitchell @recordingacademy”.

Carlile had been nominated for five awards this year including nods for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best American Roots Performance.

She didn’t win this time but Brandi Carlile already has six Grammys to her name.

She won her first three in 2019, and said while accepting the Grammy for Best Americana Album: “Americana music is the island of the misfit toys. I am such a misfit.

“I came out of the closet at 15 years old, when I was in high school, and I can assure you that I was never invited to any parties. I never got to attend a dance.

“To be embraced by this enduring and loving community has been the dance of a lifetime. Thank you for being my island.”
