Ariana Grande left gagged after Drag Race royalty walks Grammys red carpet in her iconic look

Ariana Grande chose not to attend the 2022 Grammys, however her presence was felt thanks to Drag Race star Trinity K Bonet.

The All Stars 6 queen slayed the red carpet on Sunday night (3 April), turning up at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in a replica of the look Ariana Grande wore to the 2020 Grammys.

Trinity did not miss a trick as she copied Grande’s billowy Giambattista Valli gown and silk gloves. She completed the look with the same signature high ponytail, and even pulled the exact same poses as Grande.

Trinity had previously teased that she – along with fellow queens Asia O’Hara, Naomi Smalls, Jaida Essence Hall, Alexis Mateo, Derrick Barry, Kahanna Montrese, Kameron Michaels and Coco Montrese – would be recreating iconic Grammy looks on the red carpet.

However, it appears Ariana Grande had no idea her look was set to be featured.

The singer was quick to share her approval on Instagram, writing: “oh MY GOODNESS. honored. you are perfect.”

The singer then shared the post on her Instagram Story and simply added: “omg omg omg”.

Ariana Grande’s fans had been hoping for the singer to make an appearance at Grammys, but the singer revealed she would be no-show hours before the event kicked off in Las Vegas.

The “Positions” singer shared behind-the-scenes footage from the making of her album Positions, which had been in the running for three awards.

Grande wrote: “Some Positions memories to celebrate Grammy day. Reflecting on an incredible process with so many creatives that I love and respect so deeply.”

“I love this album so it’s an honor to be recognised today alongside so many brilliant musicians and human beings that I love,” she added. “to have each other, to have the gifts that we have, to share and feel heard.. is not something to take for granted, we’ve already won. :)”

The two-time Grammy winner then concluded: “have a beautiful time, i am celebrating all of you there today!”
