Demi Lovato’s TV comeback over as they’re forced to pull out of new sitcom

Demi Lovato has been forced to bow out of their new TV pilot, Hungry.
The 29-year-old was set to make something of a TV comeback in the NBC pilot, which would have been their first small-screen acting job since their recurring role on the rebooted Will & Grace in 2020.
However, Deadline reports that the “Cool For The Summer” hitmaker has stepped aside from their role due to scheduling complications. They remain on board as an executive producer.
Modern Family star Ariel Winter will take over the singer’s role, the outlet confirmed, with production on the pilot to begin on 8 March.

Written by Will & Grace and Hot in Cleveland creator Suzanne Martin, Hungry will follow a group of friends who belong to a food issues group and work together to help each other as they search for love, success and “the perfect thing in the fridge that’s going to make it all better.”
Demi Lovato is best known for their music career, but made their name on TV, starring in Barney & Friends aged 10.
The performer then went on to become a huge Disney star with roles in the Camp Rock films and TV series Sonny With A Chance.
Lovato last played a recurring role in the 2020 series of Will & Grace, starring as a character named Jenny. The “Confident” hitmaker also famously had a guest-starring role in the hit series, Glee, and played an Icelandic singer in Will Ferrell’s Eurovision film.
They most recently stepped into the reality TV and documentary spheres with their recent projects, Unidentified with Demi Lovato and Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil.

In 2021, Lovato released their seventh studio album Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over — their first record in four years.
However, the “Neon Lights” singer indicated they will be making a change with their next album after holding a funeral for their “pop records” in January.
Lovato posted a picture of them dressed all in black and sitting in a studio posing with both middle fingers up. The singer was joined by manager Scooter Braun and representatives from Island Records.
