Euphoria actor in running to play Madonna with hopefuls battling it out in gruelling ‘bootcamp’
Euphoria actor Alexa Demie is reportedly in the running to play Madonna in the singer’s upcoming biopic, with hopefuls required to undergo a “gruelling” bootcamp with 11-hour days.
Demie is among several others reportedly the running for the role, including Julia Garner, Florence Pugh, Emma Laird, and reportedly even Madonna’s own daughter Lourdes Leon.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the audition process for the movie is “gruelling”, with a source saying that hopefuls are participating in sometimes 11-hour-a-day choreography sessions with Madonna’s choreographer in order to bag the part.
The outlet reported that actors will also be required to undergo singing auditions with Madonna herself.
“You have to be able to do everything,” a source for the Hollywood Reporter said.
Madonna will be co-writing the movie with Academy Award-winning director Diablo Cody, and will be directing the film herself.
“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer [and] a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” the pop icon, 62, wrote in a news release issued by Universal Pictures.
“The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me.
