Caitlyn Jenner says she can’t understand ‘woke world’ of ‘they and them’ because of course

Caitlyn Jenner, sadly one of the most high-profile trans figures in the world, has taken a side in the so-called “war on woke”. No prizes for guessing which one.

Her dismaying comments will come as no surprise to the non-binary community – and others who use gender-neutral pronouns – which she described as the ‘they and thems’ that she “can’t quite understand”.

Jenner, 72, was speaking to Fox News (who else) about a recent, false story in which right-wing media claimed that some non-binary teachers who accompanied schools students on a trip in California were in fact “biological men”.

The story itself has been debunked by the school itself, with a lawyer for the Pali Institute saying: “To our knowledge, there have been no biologically male counselors in shared cabins with female students at Pali Institute. While counselors may have used the pronouns they/them, the use of these pronouns is not restricted to biological males. Biological females also use those terms.”

However, the story’s total lack of any credibility didn’t stop the press using it as clickbait to fuel the so-called culture war.

Caitlyn Jenner told Fox’s Sean Hannity: “We are living in such a woke world right now I can’t even figure it out. This is a terrible story and you know they went to this camp and when they came back they were talking about gender this and that and the good news is that parents are now standing up so they called the school.”

She continued: “In this crazy state of California the law says it’s OK to put staff in the cabins that they identify as and I guess these two boys identified as they and them, which I can’t quite understand, and the parents found out.

“Now the camp is trying to get around it… It’s absolutely a mess out here in California and it’s a shame because I know so many people in the LGBT community that are wonderful people and it’s a shame that people on the fringes ruin it for everybody.”

Despite Jenner’s assurances, the jury’s still out on exactly which people it is on the fringes of the LGBT+ community who are ruining things. Given that the majority of queers are on board with non-binary identities, the answer may be closer to home for Jenner than she thinks.
