Peacemaker: How to watch DC Comics’ queer superhero series in the UK

John Cena stars in the lead role of Peacemaker which is expected to premiere in the UK soon.

DC Comics’ Peacemaker is the queer, superhero series that everyone’s talking about.

The HBO series takes place after the events of 2021’s The Suicide Squad, with John Cena reprising his role as the Peacemaker.

It follows the jingoistic killer who joins “Project Butterfly”, a black ops squad that targets parasitic, butterfly-like aliens.

The series recently aired its eighth and final episode in the US, but fans in the UK might be wondering how to watch Peacemaker.

Well, it’s finally been confirmed that the show will premiere in the UK on 22 March via Sky and NOW.

This comes after James Gunn expressed his frustration to fans about the lack of updates on a UK air date.

He tweeted that he’s “getting this question a hundred times a day”, confirming that he and HBO are “working on this”.

“I am sorry as I did everything I possibly could & am disappointed as well,” he added.

In the series it was revealed that the titular character is bisexual, marking the first on-screen queer man in the DC Extended Universe.

The hero was outed during – spoiler alert – a heartbreaking fight with his dad, a white supremacist villain named the White Dragon, who lambasted him for sleeping with “w****s of polluted blood” and men.

Gunn confirmed that John Cena is the reason why Peacemaker is “not straight”.

“John does improv all the time, and he just turned Christopher Smith into this hyper-sexualised dude that is open to anything sexually,” he told Empire.

“I was surprised by that. But I thought, ‘I guess it makes sense that this guy isn’t one-dimensional’,” he added.
