Many of her 39.5 million fans immediately took the post as a sign that Spears is actively working on a follow-up to her 2007 Blackout album, which featured “Get Naked” as a track.

“BLACKOUT 2.0 COMING,” one person wrote, while another added: “New music?! Life is a dream! ??? Bring it back to us Britney ❤️❤️❤️”

One fan stated: “Wow!!! It’s giving Britney Y2K!!!! We love you queen ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

“BLACKOUT, A BIBLE,” another added, while one fan stated: “Blackoutney 2.0 confirmed!!! ???”

Retrospectively, Britney Spears’ Blackout has been hailed as one of the most influential pop albums of all time, with many believing it impacted the approach of other pop stars such as Kesha and Lady Gaga.

Released in 2007, it was her last musical work before she was put under a conservatorship, and was lauded for its futuristic production and introspective lyrics.

It was also the first album to credit Britney as the executive producer.

Since se was freed from her 13-year conservatorship last year, Britney has hinted at a return to the recording studio – however, she’s also admitted that she is scared of the entertainment industry after her ordeal.

Whether or not Britney decides to make a musical comeback, fans will continue to wait with bated breath.
