Pop culture icon Dolly Parton is hosting the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards.

Parton announced the news on Twitter, saying she was “thrilled” to be fronting the 2022 ACM Awards.

She will host the two-hour ceremony, which will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video on 7 March.

The show is moving from CBS and it marks the first time a major awards ceremony has been live streamed exclusively.

Fans replied to the country star saying, “they must have wanted a National Treasure to host this year”.

Another added they, “couldn’t have picked a better host” and somebody else echoed this saying “every person loves Ms Dolly”.

Parton previously hosted the ceremony in 2000, becoming the first woman to present the ACM Awards solo.

She repped a sparkly, pink leopard-print dress for her hosting duties and we wouldn’t expect anything less from the country icon.

She’s been nominated for 45 ACM awards, winning 13, helping her become the most decorated female singer-songwriter in the genre.

The news of the hosting gig also comes days after it was announced that Parton will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The head of the foundation said this year’s ballot “recognises a diverse group of incredible artists” who have “had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture”.

She will be inducted into the institution later this year alongside the likes of Kate Bush, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar and Dionne Warwick.
