Several of Levy’s high-profile friends sent their love and support to the Schitt’s Creek star.

Sarah Paulson said that she was “so sorry”, while Canada’s Drag Race season two judge Brad Goreski said that “losing a pup is so hard”.

Dan Levy revealed in 2019 that he adopted Redmond when the dog was four years old. He had been “mistreated and abandoned” at an adoption fair in Los Angeles before finding his forever home with Levy.

“Finding him was the greatest thing that ever happened to me,” Levy added.

He also called on his fans to consider if they could adopt a pet as “there are so many animals just waiting for a better life”.

Levy also included Redmond in an interview he did for Vogue’s “73 Questions” video series. As Redmond napped, Levy said the dog was “better than all of us”. Levy explained that he loved how “very calm and level-headed” he was.

“Qualities that I strive for every day of my life,” he added.
