Elliot Page has done what he does best: Uplift the world with his truly radiant selfies that beam pure trans joy.

Page, the trans actor and plain-spoken activist who is 50 per cent abs, shared a simple but touching selfie on Instagram Tuesday (25 January).

Wearing a black t-shirt under a grey jumper with a silver chain, the 34-year-old Juno star left his 5.7 million followers feeling a touch emotional.

Among his fans, 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman, who came out as trans last year, called Page “hot” while Julianne More sent a wave of praise hands emojis. Filmmaker Ian Daniel added: “Yr sexy.”

Captioned with a love heart emoji, the post, which has received more than 700,000 likes at the time of writing, inspired countless fans to praise Elliot Page for being “authentically” himself.

“I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S POSSIBLE TO CHANGE SO MUCH,” one fan wrote. “IT’S MAGIC.”

“I came out as a trans man recently,” another added. “Thank you for living your truth. You inspire me.”

But one user rather succinctly captured the utter euphoria fans felt when seeing the photo.

“*jaw drops to floor, eyes pop out of sockets accompanied by trumpets, heart beats out of chest, awooga awooga sound effect, pulls chain on train whistle that has appeared next to head as steam blows out, slams fists on table, rattling any plates, bowls or silverware, whistles loudly, fireworks shoot from top of head, pants loudly as tongue hangs out of mouth, wipes a comically large bead of sweat from forehead, clears throat, straightens tie, combs hair*,” they wrote.

“Ahem, you look very lovely.”

Same.

Elliot Page calls on the world to ‘celebrate trans joy’ amid relentless legislative attacks

Elliot Page’s selfies are, for so many people, not just a textbook example of thirst-trapping done right – they’re celebrations of the joy of being trans, and Page took a brief moment to explain why that’s so important.

Page reintroduced themselves as a trans man in 2020 after recovering from gender-affirming top surgery.

Top surgery, he told TIME magazine, “completely transformed my life”, and was “not only life-changing but lifesaving”.

Between taking thirsty selfies, Elliot Page has sought to speak out against the cruel and relentless wave of anti-trans bills that US state legislators have rammed into dockets for the past year.

Moments after capturing his follower’s attention with his latest selfie, Page posted a “trans joy amicus brief” created by the Transgender Legal Defence and Education Fund of the ACLU, the civil liberties group battling Arkansas’ ban on gender-affirming healthcare for trans youth.

“With attacks on trans youth escalating across the country,” he said, “we can resist by uplifting and celebrating trans joy.”
