Right-wing cranks mocked after whining M&M’s are now ‘less sexy’: ‘Why do you want to f**k an M&M?’

The former voice actor of the Green M&M has waded into a bizarre culture war over the candy mascots being given a makeover to be more inclusive.

Yes, that’s a sentence we just wrote. Welcome to 2022.

Larissa Murray spoke out after Fox News’ Tucker Carlson complained that the M&M mascots had been made “less sexy”.

To “align with the fact that consumers value inclusion”, M&M’s redesigned its mascots last week, as part of a “global commitment to creating a world where everyone feels they belong, and society is inclusive”.

This includes the crispy Orange M&M “acknowledging his anxiety” and the Green M&M getting a new outfit, swapping her boots for trainers.

Carlson, who has raged about everything from Elmo to Dr Seuss and Viagra, derided the redesigned confectionary as “unappealing and totally androgynous”.

So-called Fox News ‘humorist’ Greg Gutfeld, meanwhile, used a fictional piece of chocolate getting a pair of new shoes as an excuse to attack non-binary people, saying: “When I eat a bag of M&MS, do I wonder which colour and shape best represents my identity?

“I mean, what kind of message does it send to children when you devour these non-binary bonbons?”

But Murray, who previously voiced the Green M&M, says the world should “embrace” the changes as society is “more woke” than it was a decade ago.

M&M’s mascot voice actor thinks redesign is a ‘good thing’

Speaking to TMZ, she said: “With these changes that they’re making to the M&M’s and the Green M&M in particular, I think you can be everything.

“You can wear trainers and you can look a bit boyish and but still be sexy.”

She added: “We are hopefully a little bit more woke nowadays than we were 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and I think we need to embrace it, move forward with it. I think it’s a good thing.”

Murray called on critics of the redesigns to be more “open-minded” about such things. “Change is a good thing, and we should change,” she said, “this is the way of doing it.

“M&M’s being more inclusive, like the article says, is the way forward.”

The Green M&M, otherwise known as Ms Green, is a “spokescandy” who according to a fan Wikia was “created with a natural beauty beyond description with a green complexion, as her name implies”.

“Never seen far from the boys, Ms Green is slightly bothered by their lack of confidence,” the entry reads. “She often steals the spotlight due to their attentiveness.”

Indeed, Ms Green certainly did steal the spotlight on the Tucker Carlson Show, with the eponymous host blasting the fictional character and her equally fictional friends.

“M&M’s will not be satisfied until every last cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous,” Carlson, who is a 52-year-old grown man, whined.

“Until the moment you wouldn’t want to have a drink with any one of them. That’s the goal.”

But M&M’s seem to be taking the weird rants about the chocolate in its stride.

“Did my shoe’s really break the internet?” M&M’s tweeted.

Carlson was widely mocked online for dedicating a segment of his show to ranting about now being able to have a drink with an M&M, with many Twitter users simply asking: “Why does Tucker Carlson want to f**k an M&M?”
