Janet Jackson documentary: Where to watch in the UK, trailer and release date

The four-part Janet Jackson documentary premieres this January.

The much-anticipated Janet Jackson documentary is premiering on our screens soon – and this is how to watch it.

The intimate, four-part documentary will explore the life and career of the pioneering pop culture icon.

After being filmed over five years, it promises “no stone left unturned” as Jackson “lifts the lid on her private life for the very first time”.

In the trailer, Jackson is asked why she wanted to do the documentary despite having been so private about her personal life throughout her career.

“It’s just something that needs to be done,” she replies.

The sneak peek also shows Jackson looking back at her childhood and early days as a performer.

“There were time when I just didn’t understand where I actually fit in,” she says.

Other topics explored in the four-part series include her relationships with her late father Joe and brother Michael, the infamous 2004 Super Bowl ‘wardrobe malfunction’ with Justin Timberlake and being a mother to her son, Eissa Al Mana.

The trailer also shows us a moment where her team was approached by Timberlake “about doing the Super Bowl”, which he headlined in 2018.

Her voice then narrates: “They build you up, and then once you get there, they’re so quick to tear you down”, before cutting to a headline showing the fallout for Jackson after the 2004 performance.

The four-part series will feature exclusive archival footage, home videos and celebrity interviews.

Stars including Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Whoopi Goldberg and Ciara are among those who will be talking about the pop culture icon in the documentary.
