Madonna’s upcoming biopic could star her daughter Lourdes Leon in the main role, according to reports.

The legendary singer-songwriter and actress is co-writing and will direct a film based on her own life story, it was announced in 2020, with the biopic reportedly nearing production.

In the running for the role of the Queen of Pop herself is Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, according the The Mirror.

It’s also been reported by EW that Uncut Gems star Julia Fox is being considered to play actor Debi Mazar, Madonna’s longtime friend.

Madonna shared a photo of herself with Fox to Instagram, with the caption: “Went to dinner with Julia to talk about my movie.”

The singer began writing the film with Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning writer of Juno and Jennifer’s Body.

The current, final iteration of the script is reportedly being written with Erin Wilson, who co-wrote The Girl on the Train.

A source told The Mirror that the movie will open in the 70s, when Madonna was struggling to get her career of the ground.

“It’s going to be a powerful and true depiction of Madonna’s life – think Bohemian Rhapsody, not Mamma Mia!” they said.

With her status as a titan of the music industry cemented, Madonna still takes time to remind her fans of how much of an icon she truly is.

In an Instagram post at the end of 2021, she chose to reflect on her year whilst dressed in a black thong and full-body fishnet bodystocking.

“2021 is almost over………….full of extraordinary surprises,” Madonna wrote in the caption. “I tried to keep my clothes on as often as possible. Merry X mas.”

She also expressed her gratitude at having lived through “through four decades of censorship… sexism… ageism and misogyny”.

“It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple,” Madonna added. “As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualised.”
