Sex and the City’s Chris Noth not being investigated after sexual assault claims, police say

Sexual assault allegations against Sex and the City star Chris Noth are not being investigated “at this point”, police have said.
Noth, who played Mr Big on the HBO series, was earlier this week accused of assaulting two women in 2004 and 2015. He has dismissed the allegations as “categorically false”.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed Thursday evening (16 December) that it has not yet launched an investigation into the claims as no police report has been filed.
“There is no record of a report being filed at this time,” LAPD officer Drake Madison told the PA news agency.
“Without a report, there is no investigation.”
Both alleged victims came forward to The Hollywood Reporter separately after Noth reprised his role in Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That…, saying the promotional run around the series stirred up painful memories.
According to Deadline, one of the women, known only by the pseudonym Zoe, has spoken to police but did not file a formal report.

Noth’s legal representatives, Lavely & Singer, said they would “cooperate fully” with any police probe.

On Thursday (16 December), The Hollywood Reporter published an article detailing how two women claim they were sexually assaulted by Noth.
Zoe, 40, and Lily, 31, (not their real names) shared similar stories of Noth inviting them to his properties before making unwanted sexual advances.
Zoe said she met Noth while in an entry-level position at a top firm where the actor often visited on business.
Noth, who had been dating now-wife Tara Wilson for three years at the time, began leaving Zoe “flirty” voicemail messages, she alleged.

Zoe claims Noth eventually invited her to visit the pool at the apartment complex he lived in. While at the pool, she claims, he went to his apartment to take a phone call, leaving a book behind.
Zoe claims she was asked to bring the book to Noth’s apartment, and that he “kissed her as she stepped through the door” before “pulling her toward him, moving her toward the bed, pulling off her shorts and bikini bottom and [beginning] to rape her from behind.”
“It was very painful,” she said, “and I yelled out: ‘Stop!’ And he didn’t. I said: ‘Can you at least get a condom?’ and he laughed at me.”
The second woman, Lily, claimed that Noth assaulted her in his Greenwich Village, New York City, apartment in 2015.
She claims that after sharing drinks at a bar, Noth invited her over to “sample his collection of whiskeys”.
“He kept trying and trying,” Lily said, “and I should have said no more firmly and left. And then the next thing I knew, he pulled his pants and he was standing in front of me.”
Lily alleges Noth then “thrust his penis into her mouth” before “having sex” with her.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Noth said: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false,’ the statement reads.
“These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual.
“It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
After the allegations were made, a viral Peloton advert starring Noth was quietly removed.
It had been rush-released after Noth’s character died following a Peloton workout in And Just Like That…, but has now been archived.
“Every single sexual assault accusation must be taken seriously,” Peloton said in a statement.
“We were unaware of these allegations when we featured Chris Noth in our response to HBO’s reboot.”
