Euphoria turns tension and drama up to 11 with new teaser trailers

Euphoria fans have been giver more hints about what to expect in season two after several teaser trailers dropped on social media on Tuesday (14 December).

Fans have been waiting with bated breath to rejoin the world of Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer) after the first season ended with plenty of unanswered questions.

From what has been teased so far, it looks like season two will be back with plenty of drama, moody scenarios and a birthday party.

The series follows a group of teenagers who struggle with difficult issues, including toxic relationships, drug addiction and mental illness.

At its core are Rue and Jules, who grapple with an on-off relationship as Rue tries to overcome drug addiction and Jules, who is trans, settles into town as a newcomer

In one new clip, Rue is giving a monologue about being young as she states: “When you’re younger, everything feels so permanent. But as you get older, you realise nothing is”.

Viewers then see a selection of clips featuring our favourite characters in numerous emotional situations.

In the second teaser, the dynamic between Rue and Jules while Rue’s sobriety is also touched upon as she says: “In all fairness, I had no intentions on staying clean.”

Euphoria won plaudits and awards (including the best actress Emmy for its lead, Zendaya) following its first run back in 2019.

The hit series returned to screens last year with a special episode devoted to Rue, followed by another focused on Jules to help ease the prolonged wait caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first bridge episode, titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always”, followed Rue as she reflected on her recent relapse while spending Christmas Eve with Ali, her Narcotics Anonymous mentor, who shared his own experiences with drug addiction and how it disrupted his relationship with his family.

The second episode, titled “F**k Anyone Who’s Not a Sea Blob”, centred on Jules’ first therapy session after she abandoned Rue at the end of the first season.

Jules opened up about the pressure of dating somebody battling drug addiction and explored how her mother’s own addiction impacted her growing up.

At the end of the second special episode, Rue paid a surprise visit to Jules who attempted to apologise for skipping town.

However, Rue departed abruptly and Jules was left crying alone in her room, leaving fans on another cliffhanger.

The episode is available to stream on HBO Max in the US. In the UK it can be streamed on Sky catch-up and NowTV.

Euphoria season premieres on HBO on 9 January, 2022.
