RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14 air date confirmed with major twist that’ll leave UK fans gagged

Break out your most snatched wigs, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14 will be arriving just in time to celebrate the start of the new year.

The latest season of the long-running drag reality competition series will premiere on 7 January 2022, And, in a major change for UK fans of the beloved series, the new season will be streaming exclusively on World of Wonder’s platform, WOW Presents Plus.

UK subscribers will be able to watch the new episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race every Thursday, followed by episodes of Untucked quickly afterwards. So prepare to have your Thursday’s completely booked off to catch up on all things drag.

And that’s not the only Drag Race news that dropped this week.

Reigning champion Symone has Ru-vealed the new crop of queens vying for the title of America’s next drag superstar – including the show’s first straight, cisgender male competitor.

Arkansas queen Maddy Morphosis, who is the first straight cis man to compete on a Drag Race franchise, is among the queens vying for the coveted title, crown and sceptre and lush $100,000 cash prize.

The series also boasts two trans queens, Kerry Colby and Kornbread “The Snack” Jere.

In July, American Horror Story star Cheyenne Jackson hinted that he might have already filmed a guest judge slot for season 14. Jackson opened up about his guest judge appearance in All Stars 6 in an interview with SFX magazine before revealing he’s also filmed for further shows in the beloved franchise.

“Yeah, I shot them about a year ago as they do them about a year in advance,” Jackson said.

He then went on to share his love for RuPaul, who he said has been a “friend for maybe nine years” and “one of my mentors”, as well as the show itself. The actor added that Drag Race is “one of my favourite shows” and liked the UK version too.

The announcement for this new instalment in the Drag Race franchise comes just days after the latest series of the UK spinoff wrapped up. Krystal Versace was crowned the winner of Drag Race UK series three after a fierce lip sync battle against Ella Vaday and Kitty Scott Claus to “You Don’t Own Me” by Dusty Springfield.

The 19-year-old declared on the stage that appearing on the critically-acclaimed show had been the “most amazing experience I could’ve ever wished for in my entire life”.

“And I’m just ready to rule the f**king world,” she added.
