Tory culture secretary Nadine Dorries faces investigation over ‘small d**k’ tweet

Culture secretary Nadine Dorries is facing an investigation over a tweet describing a local councillor as “just a misogynist with a small d**k”.
According to the Ely Standard, Huntingdonshire district councillor John Morris raised the 2015 tweet with the Parliamentary Standards Commission and asked it to investigate whether Dorries has breached the code of conduct.
In November 2015, Dorries took to Twitter to describe former Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown as “the most self important, up his own backside, failed politician in Westminster”.
Morris responded: “Did you drink too much wine last night?”
Dorries hit back: “Are you just a misogynist with a small d**k?”

Morris said he was “appalled” when the tweet was recently flagged to him, and added: “It came to my attention earlier this week and even though it was sent in 2015, I have decided to make an official complaint.
“I know Nadine Dorries is thought of as a bit of a character and has a reputation for shooting from the hip, but it is appalling. Misogyny should be taken seriously and this tweet serves only to devalue the real issue.
“I don’t want her to lose her job, I just want an apology.”
Dorries, who was named secretary of state for digital, culture, media and sport in Boris Johnson’s September reshuffle, is currently pushing an online safety bill to curb harm and abuse on social media, a fact that Morris described as “ironic”.
He said: “It is more than ironic that at a time the government is working to pass its online safety bill, which seeks to introduce controls and punishments for online abuse, at the same time the secretary of state for digital if herself dishing out online abuse.”

Nadine Dorries repeatedly voted against marriage equality and once even compared same-sex marriage to incest.
Speaking in parliament in 2013, she asked: “If gay marriage bill takes sex out of marriage could a sister marry a sister to avoid inheritance tax?”
Dorries also bizarrely argued: “The definition of marriage and the definition of sex is for ordinary and complete sex to have taken place. Same-sex couples cannot meet this requirement.”
Ahead of the vote on marriage equality, she said it “has been pursued by the metro elite gay activists and needs to be put into the bin”.
By 2018, she described voting against same-sex marriage as her “biggest regret”, but later used the issue to back a ban on burkas.
