JoJo Siwa serves queer Pennywise the clown in chilling Halloween-themed Dancing with the Stars

JoJo Siwa dressed as Pennywise from the movie "It" during a performance on Dancing with the Stars

JoJo Siwa absolutely killed it on Dancing with the Stars this week with a terrifyingly amazing performance as the evil clown monster Pennywise.

The social media star sported the dramatic white face paint and menacing red lines, dark eye makeup and the tattered costume that are hallmarks of the murderous clown’s appearance. Keeping in line with the theme, her professional dance partner Jenna Johnson dressed as Georgie Denbrough, the boy in the yellow raincoat who falls prey to Pennywise in Stephen King’s classic It.

The dramatic jazz routine included the iconic red balloon, fog, acrobatic moves and a sinister cat-and-mouse game between the two dancers all set to “Anything Goes” by District 78 and Patrice Covington.

The duo amped up the horror at the end of the dance when Siwa seemingly ripped off Johnson’s arm, and the dancer dropped to the ground screaming.

The evening was extra terrifying as it was an elimination round. But Siwa and Johnson remained away from the chopping block after they received yet another perfect score.

Bruno Tonioli described JoJo Siwa as a “terrific talent” and said she “turned a nightmare into a work of art”.

Len Goodman agreed the performance was “scary”, even joking he was “glad I’ve got on my rubber underpants”.

“If ever a dance captured the flavour of a book, that was it,” he said.

It’s the second time the pair received 40 out of a possible 40 points from the judges following their stellar Grease week foxtrot to “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee (Reprise)”.

JoJo Siwa told ET that she was excited to embrace her “scary” side this week after several amazing performances on Dancing with the Stars.

After feeling “pretty” when they dressed up as Sandy and Frenchie for Grease week, Halloween gave them an opportunity “not to be pretty”, she explained.

“I feel like we get one chance to not be hot, to not be pretty, to not be beautiful,” Siwa explained. “We are, like, terrifying and scary.”

She also attributed her time dancing alongside Johnson on the show with helping her mental state and putting her in a “really happy place”.

“This show, for me, has put me in a really happy place and made me feel like myself,” Siwa said. “I think that is something I am really, really appreciative of. It’s so real, and it is what it is.”
