Britney Spears warns ‘Lord have mercy’ on ‘family’s souls’ as she prepares for freedom
Britney Spears has admitted she’s afraid of what comes next as she stands on the brink of freedom – but he family had better watch out.
Britney is on the brink of regaining control over her personal and financial affairs for the first time since she was placed under a conservatorship in 2008.
The complex legal arrangement is to be reviewed and potentially dissolved at a November hearing, with her lawyer confident that she will win her freedom.
But for now, Britney is celebrating Christmas.
In an Instagram post showing off her Christmas tree, Britney wrote: “I believe any reason to find more joy in life is a good idea… and it’s no secret that I’ve been through it in the past… so I might have to do things a little differently from now on.”
Britney gave an insight into her feelings on her family. She’s previously suggested she would like to see her father jailed for conservatorship abuse, and has criticised her sister for “hurting her”.
“Lord have mercy on my family’s souls if I ever do an interview,” she added.
The “Toxic” hitmaker then shared her “disgust” at the California conservatorship system that enabled her father to seize such severe control over her life.
But with freedom so close, she admitted that she is “fearful” of doing something “wrong”.
“I’ll just be honest and say I’ve waited so long to be free from the situation I’m in… and now that it’s here I’m scared to do anything because I’m afraid I’ll make a mistake,” she wrote in the caption.”
“For so many years I was always told if I succeeded at things, it could end… and it never did.
“I worked so hard but now that it’s here and getting closer and closer to ending I’m very happy but there [are] a lot of things that scare me.”
