Daniel Craig says he goes to gay bars to dodge ‘aggressive d**k swinging’ and ‘meet girls’

James Bond star Daniel Craig has said he goes to gay bars to avoid the aggressive “d**k swinging” that goes on in straight clubs.

The No Time To Die actor opened up about his love of queer venues in an interview with Bruce Bozzi on the Sirius XM podcast network.

The pair, who have been friends for many years, reflected on a night out in Los Angeles a number of years ago. They ended up going to Roosterfish, a popular gay bar.

“I’d just like to say, it wasn’t my first gay bar, for me it was no big deal,” Daniel Craig said.

He explained himself further: “I’ve been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember and one of the reasons is I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often.

“We didn’t get into a fight that night because the aggressive d**k swinging in hetero bars, I just got very sick of as a kid because it was like, ‘I don’t want to end up in a punch up,’ and I did and that would happen quite a lot.”

The British actor explained that gay bars are “a good place to go” because everybody there is usually “chill”.

“It was a very safe place to be, and I could meet girls there because a lot of girls were there for the exact same reason I was there, so there was an ulterior motive,” he joked. Presumably, many of the women there were not there for “the exact same reason”, and were there because they were queer.

The pair detailed their infamous night on the town, revealing that it ended up sparking tabloid speculation about Craig’s sexuality when he was photographed hugging Bozzi outside the bar.

“We’re tactile, we love each other. We give each other hugs, it’s OK. We’re two f**king grown men,” Craig said.

Craig admitted that he “got in trouble” with his publicist over the night out, and Bozzi said his husband Bryan Lourd wasn’t best pleased either.

Reflecting on the night, Craig said the irony of the night is that they got “caught”, adding that it was “kind of weird because we were doing nothing f**king wrong”.

“What happened was we were having a nice night and I was talking to you about my life and my life was changing, and we got drunk and I was like, ‘Let’s go to a bar, let’s f**king go out,'” Craig said.

“It was at the time when I was not doing that – because of what happened that night – we got busted for doing nothing wrong. And I was just like, ‘I don’t give a f**k.'”

The men agreed that they had “a great night” – even if it turned into something of “a s**t storm in a teacup,” as Craig put it.

Bozzi added: “If you Google ‘Daniel Craig gay’, I come up, which is for me one of the highlights of my life and Rachel [Weisz, Craig’s wife] loves it and ultimately I know Bryan loved it.”

A viral TikTok video recently sparked discussion over straight people entering queer spaces.

Many argued that keeping such spaces for queer people is essential to protect the safety of the community.

“Well if we can’t be there where else are we supposed to go, we deserve a safe space too,” one TikTok user wrote.
