JoJo Siwa shared her affinity with Britney Spears before continuing her Dancing With the Stars domination with a sizzling, Britney-inspired tango.

The 18-year-old YouTuber and Dance Moms alum performed an Argentine tango dressed in a gorgeous plaid outfit alongside her dancing partner, Jenna Johnson. The pair stepped and spun their way into the judges’ hearts with a flawless routine to Britney’s hit song “…Baby One More Time”.

Ahead of the dance, JoJo Siwa explained how she feels connected with Britney on several levels, given that they were both thrust into the spotlight at a young age.

“I think I’ve had a really great support system around me, but being a child star is hard,” she said. “I was always homeschooled, and so I never had a person bullying, like it wasn’t a thing for me.”

She recalled going to a “Halloween theme park” when she was younger and people were “shouting at me ‘JoJo Siwa, ‘F’ you’.”

“No 14-year-old wants to hear that,” Siwa said. “Every time that I go through something, it reminds me of the other side, of what’s good.”

Siwa also gushed about her love for Britney, saying the pop star is a “genius”.

“I love Britney,” Siwa said. “Britney is a legend, an icon. A ball of talent and glitter and energy.”

She added that Britney “just has a way of being herself, almost like nobody else does”.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba described Siwa and Johnson’s dance as “liquid sunshine”, adding that Siwa always “leads with clarity and intention”.

The sensational performance earned the duo 24 out of 40 points, one of the highest scores of the evening.

JoJo Siwa shared on Instagram that she and Jenna “pushed harder than ever” for their Britney Spears performance. She added that it “makes me so happy to see everything come together on stage”, describing it as the “best night ever”.
