Britney Spears praised her fans in the Free Britney movement for waging a dedicated campaign to remove her father from her 13-year conservatorship.

The “Toxic” singer took to social media to thank her fans following a judge suspending her father, Jamie Spears, from his long-standing role as conservator in September. The suspension didn’t immediately end Britney’s conservatorship, but it ended her father’s control over Britney’s financial affairs.

On Monday (4 October), Britney addressed her fans directly, writing: “#FreeBritney movement… I have no words… because of you guys and your constant resilience in freeing me from my conservatorship… my life is now in that direction !!!!!”

She added that her fans’ support struck a chord with her emotionally. Spears wrote that she “cried last night for two hours” because “my fans are the best”, and “I know it”.

“I feel your hearts and you feel mine… that much I know is true,” Spears concluded.

The emotional caption was included alongside a video of her posing in a white crop top and matching shorts in a sunny location.

Britney’s fiancé, Sam Asghari, commented on the post: “From a scale of 0-Britney, how free are you?”

Other celebrity friends sent their well-wishes to the pop megastar. Miley Cyrus shared that the singer looked “soooooooo good” while her younger sibling Noah simply wrote: “Love you.”

The Free Britney movement has tirelessly called for an end to Britney’s conservatorship – which controls large portions of the singer’s public and private life – for years, inspiring the critically acclaimed Framing Britney Spears documentary.

The documentary made headlines and brought widespread attention to her case shortly before she appeared in court to speak out about the “abusive” legal arrangement.

This isn’t the first time that Britney has given a well-deserved shout out to her supporters online. In September, she said the Free Britney movement “kicks a**” as she spoke out against being “manipulated by the system” on Instagram.

A hearing is set for 12 November to determine if Britney’s conservatorship will be terminated entirely. Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart said in a video shared by Rolling Stone that it was his “hope and expectation” that the conservatorship would be fully terminated at the November hearing.

After being suspended as a conservator, Jamie’s attorney Vivian Thoreeen issued a lengthy statement on his behalf saying the decision was “disappointing”. She added that her client “loved his daughter Britney unconditionally”.
