Horror fans get ready, because Vans is releasing a collection inspired by some of the scariest films of all time.

The sneaker brand will pay homage to four iconic horror films, namely: It, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shining and Friday the 13th.

They’re being released in October – just in time for Halloween, obviously – on the Vans website.

Vans have released a teaser trailer featuring the spooky styles, including a pair of Sk8-Hi shoes printed in yellow graphics from the original poster for The Shining.

They’re finished up with a sole scribbled with the phrase “REDRUM”, for an extra level of creepiness.

In a nod to Freddy Kreuger’s striped sweater from A Nightmare on Elm Street, a pair of Sk9-Hi shoes feature the same sweater design, alongside what looks like a blood-spatter effect, but we’ll let you decide.

It’s scary clown, Pennywise, is referenced on a pair old school canvas Vans, with the classic black and white check and his party favour of choice – red balloons.

They also feature the phrase “you’ll float too”, uttered by Pennywise in the film, which is scrawled across the sole.

Also included in the range is pair of slip-on trainers featuring Jason Voorhees’ terrifying mask on one shoe, and the Friday the 13th film logo on the other.

The Vans x Horror collection will be available from vans.com.

More recently the horror reboot of Candyman received praise for its progressive treatment of a gay couple.

The film’s cast features Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Troy Cartwright and Kyle Kaminsky as his boyfriend, Grady in supporting roles.

And although the bar is on the floor – given the horror genre’s track record with gay characters – the film has been praised by LGBT+ fans.

Following its release, cinema-goers took to social media to tweet the director, Nia DaCosta and screenwriter, Jordan Peele, for creating a loving gay couple who don’t die in violent circumstances.

So let’s hope for more representation in this genre – but until then LGBT+ horror fans can rep the new Vans collection.
