The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens this month and we cannot wait.

The baking competition show is everything we need in our lives as the weather gets colder and the days feel shorter.

This series of The Great British Bake Off will see 12 amateur bakers head to the famous tent, for one to be crowned the winner by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

It will premiere on 21 September on Channel 4 – the same week as Drag Race UK returns for series three – so we’re being spoilt.

The bakers will take part in some stressful challenges, from chocolate week to pastry week, with a few innuendos thrown in for good measure.

If you’re a fan of the show and every series think “I’d love to give baking a try” and even end up on Bake Off one day then there’s a few ways to get started.

Of course, you’ll need the equipment, accessories and maybe a few books to guide you through some recipes.

Below we’ve put together some things to get you started on your Bake Off journey.

From Paul’s rainbow coloured bagels to Prue’s raspberry salted caramel eclairs, you can dive straight into baking. The latest book A Bake For All Seasons is due for release on 30 September. Unless you want to do it old school by hand, you’ll probably also need a mixer for your bakes. These can be pretty pricey with some costing hundreds of pounds. But there is a couple that you can get for less than £100 and they’ve got good reviews. This includes the one above – the Aucma Stand Mixer – with 14000W, a 6.2 litre mixing bowl and six speed tilt-head. It’s priced at £99.99 and you can get it from Amazon here. Plus you can check out the other mixers available here.

A three-piece baking mat set. (Amazon)

You can also get this three-piece cookie sheet set featuring an aluminum sheet pan, silicone baking mat and stainless cooling rack for your bakes. This particular set is extra large, so you might need to check the measurements of your oven before purchasing these items and if they’re too big or small then shop around for similar ones that will fit. To get this three-piece set head to Amazon here. Meanwhile there’s plenty of others to choose from here.
