Taylor Swift surprise dropped “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” so her legions of Swifties can enjoy the last rays of summer with a bang.

Fans woke up to a pleasant surprise Friday (17 September) as Taylor Swift announced “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)”, one of the most eagerly-anticipated items from her mammoth rerecording project.

Apparently, Swift has been keeping a watchful eye on her fans, as she tweeted: “Hi! Saw you guys got Wildest Dreams trending on TikTok, thought you should have my version.”

The new version is a faithful re-recording, seemingly once again incorporating Swift’s own heartbeat into the production.

The song credits Christopher Rowe, Shellback and Swift as producers. Shellback was responsible for the original, along with Max Martin, suggesting that Martin won’t be returning for the presumably forthcoming 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

It came as a surprise, with Swift previously announcing that Red (Taylor’s Version) would be her next re-recorded album. That will arrive in November, seven months after she dropped Fearless (Taylor’s Version).

Taylor Swift fans were euphoric after Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version) dropped

Taylor Swift announced in 2019 that she was re-recording her first six albums after her label Big Machine sold her masters to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings, the New York Times reported.

The music icon said the deal “stripped me of my life’s work” and put her catalog in the “hands of someone who tried to dismantle it”.

Taylor Swift previously said that the process of re-recording her 2008 album Fearless – which includes the hits “You Belong With Me” and “Fifteen” – was “more fulfilling and emotional” than she ever dreamed. She added it fuelled her determination to re-record “all of my music”.

Swift confirmed on Twitter that her new version of Red will be out on 19 November and will be the “first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red”. She even promised that one song is “ten minutes long” – so get strapped in for that one.

And honestly, if this re-recorded version of “Wildest Dreams” is anything to go by, her work is just getting better and better.
