Amazon has finally released the first trailer for its epic fantasy series Wheel of Time – and fans are going to love it.

Alongside the trailer for the show – which takes place in a female-dominated society – they’ve also revealed its release date.

Wheel of Time will premiere worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on 19 November.

Based on the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan, the television adaption stars Oscar-nominated Rosamund Pike.

She plays Moiraine, who heads the female-only mystic order known as the Aes Sedai. Her character rescues five villagers after monsters attack their community and takes them around the world.

The book and television series flip the often male-dominated fantasy genre on its head, as the largest kingdom is ruled by a queen and any man capable of using magic is hunted down.

In the trailer a voiceover says: “The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend.”

We also see the female characters being instantly iconic and some stunning scenic shots of the Czech Republic, where the majority of the series was filmed.

A second voiceover adds: “No matter what happens, what pain we face, the heartbreak, the wheel keeps turning.”
