Lil Nas X loves himself too much to be driven ‘crazy’ by the ‘s**t’ bigots say

Lil Nas X has brushed off Boosie Badazz’s vile anti-LGBT+ comments because he already loves himself too much to be driven “crazy” by hate.

During an interview on the radio show The Breakfast Club, Boosie Badazz defended comments he made in July about the openly gay rapper. He seemingly overlooked the homophobic nature of his comments and claimed straight people are being bashed by the LGBT+ community.

According to Billboard, Boosie used homophobic slurs in relation to Nas last month. He also threatened to “drag his a*** off stage and beat his a***” after Nas joked that he and Jack Harlow would perform “Industry Baby” together naked at the VMAs.

On Monday (23 August), The Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee asked Boosie if he thought further about his comments, but the rapper said he didn’t think he had gone too far. Then, he doubled down on his inflammatory comments and tried to argue that straight people are now being persecuted.

“I gotta speak up because as far as straight people in the world, you don’t have any opinion no more on sexuality,” Boosie said. “Everything is harm. If you say anything – ‘I’m straight, I like women’ – it’s vulgar.”

The Breakfast Club hosts were having none of it and called the rapper out for his incorrect assessment. But Boosie just further tried to defend himself.

“You can’t brag on really smashing or your sexuality no more,” he said. “It’s ran by LGBTQ [people].”

In true Lil Nas X fashion, the rapper and Twitter genius used Boosie Badzz’s comments to promote “Industry Baby”. He retweeted Boosie’s interview with The Breakfast Club and wrote: “Wow…. this is insane. almost as insane as my new single ‘industry baby’ which is out now!”

In a later tweet, Nas shared with his followers that such disgusting comments would have more impact if he hadn’t fully accepted himself and his sexuality.

“The s**t y’all say about me would drive me crazy if I didn’t already love myself,” Nas tweeted.

Nas has previously opened up about his struggles with accepting himself. In 2019, the “Old Town Road” hitmaker said in an interview with Gayle King on CBS’ This Morning that he used to pray that being gay “was a phase” and “that it would go away”.

Fans got a glimpse into this time in his life in Nas’ video for his hit single “Sun Goes Down”. The highly emotional video saw Lil Nas X travel back in time to uplift his younger self. The lyrics recalled how the rapper was “haunted” by “these gay thoughts” and would pray to God to “take it from me”.

It was revealed in the song that the rapper is now “happy” that he’s come to love himself that it “all worked out for me”. He added that he was going to “make my fans so proud of me” through his work and commitment to loving all aspects of himself.

Lil Nas X is sadly not the only target of Boosie Badazz’s ire

The rapper has previously been condemned for a slew of inflammatory statements. In 2020, he claimed to have hired women to sexually assault his underage son to ‘train [him] right’. He also went on several transphobic rants attacking Dwyane Wade’s daughter, Zaya.

Boosie also attempted to defend DaBaby amidst the ongoing backlash the rapper has faced for his misinformed comments about people living with HIV and AIDs and the LGBT+ community. He said the backlash is proof that it “ain’t gonna be normal for a kid to be straight” in “10 years”.

“It’s sad how y’all tryna force this gay stuff on the world,” Boosie said in a minute-long Instagram video on his private account earlier this month.
