Billy Eichner has announced his brand new “big, gay divorce comedy” film entitled Ex-Husbands.

The comedian will write and star in the upcoming film, which is heading to streaming service Amazon Prime Video.

He announced the news on his social media, joking (we hope) that it will be “starring Matt Damon and DaBaby,” who have both recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Billy added on Instagram: “I’m making a movie!!! Another one!!! It’s the gay WAR OF THE ROSES you’ve been waiting for!”.

The film tells the story of a gay couple who got married when same-sex marriage became legal and now must deal with the fact that it’s time to get a divorce, reports Deadline.

It follows Daniel and Connor who “became the first gay couple in NYC to get legally married in 2015 and poster boys for LGBTQ love and acceptance.”

“The only problem now is: they’re getting an even more epic divorce,” the description continues. “It’s a War of the Roses-style battle for the ages as Daniel and Connor viciously, hilariously, and poignantly become Ex-Husbands.”

Ex-Husbands will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video after the streaming giant won the rights to the project.

The release date is yet to be confirmed but it follows up Eichner’s previously announced gay rom-com Bros.

Billy celebrated the news of the project saying it will be the “first rom com about gay men ever produced by a major studio, and, apparently, I’m the first openly gay man to ever write and star in their own studio film.”

He went on to say it “only took 100 years! THANKS HOLLYWOOD!!!”, with that film due out in 2022.

The actor and comedian gained recognition for his viral show Billy on the Street, where he asked members of the public questions about pop culture.

He’s since gone on to appear in Parks & Recreation, the live adaption of The Lion King and Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story.
