Two gay icons – King Princess and Birkenstock – have teamed up for a stunning campaign.

Singer-songwriter King Princess poses in the new collection from the sandal brand and designers Proenza Schouler for a “collab we all needed.”

Birkenstock and Proenza Schouler will release the range from 6 August in-store and online, but fans can pre-order the sandals now from proenzaschouler.com.

The different campaign shots see the singer pose in the new sandals wearing a floor length leather jacket, a power pantsuit and a fringed jumper.

King Princess captioned her Instagram post “thanks for having me ? I love to hold shoe” and added that it’s “gay legends only” noting the photoshoot’s queer photographer, Collier Schorr.

Fans were pretty excited to see the two icons team up, with one writing it’s “the collab we all needed.”

One fan referenced the caption saying, “I love to hold phone with photo of you hold shoe,” while another added, “oh so she a Birkenstock lesbian now.”

The collection features new designs of the slip-on sandal styles, Arizona and Milano, which are classic silhouettes by Birkenstock.

There are five colours to choose from with white, off-white ecru, burgundy, cobalt blue and black with white or yellow top stitching in the range.

Design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez say: “Our first collaboration with Birkenstock launched at the start of the pandemic, which ended up being great for us personally as we spent quarantine in the country wearing our Birkenstocks.”
