Rapper DaBaby defends disgusting homophobic rant about HIV and somehow makes it even worse

DaBaby addresses criticism about his anti-gay and HIV related comments on Instagram Stories

DaBaby has defended his homophobic rant about gay people and HIV with another homophobic rant about gay people and HIV.

The rapper faced widespread condemnation from LGBT+ people and allies on social media following his performance at the Rolling Loud Festival on Sunday night (25 July).

During the performance, DaBaby said: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two, three weeks, then put your cellphone light up.

“Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put a cellphone light them up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot put your cellphone light up. Keep it real.”

DaBaby responded to criticism from HIV charities and Twitter users on his Instagram Stories on Monday (26 July), branding the backlash a “weak ass internet issue”.

“What me and my fans do at the live show, it don’t concern you n****s on the internet or you bitter b****es on the internet. It’s not your business, what I do at a live show is for the audience at the live show, it’ll never translate correctly to somebody looking at a little five second clip from their goddamn crib on they phone.”

The rapper went on to accuse people of twisting his words, adding that a man in a crop top was in the front row at his concert – which apparently means he’s allowed to say whatever he wants about gay people.

“I say if you don’t got AIDS put a cellphone light up, I say if you ain’t suck d**k in the parking lot put your cellphone lights up so I can drop my next song,” DaBaby continued.

“I wasn’t going on a rant, that’s called a call to action, that’s what that’s called, cause I’m a live performer, I’m the best live performer… you interact with your fans, you get what I’m saying.

“All the lights went up, gay or straight, you want to know why? Cause even my gay fans don’t got f**king AIDS, stupid ass n****s. They don’t got AIDS, my gay fans, they take care of themselves, they ain’t no nasty gay n****s, they ain’t no junkees.”

DaBaby says his gay fans won’t ‘suck d**k in a parking lot’ because they have ‘class’

He continued: “I say if you don’t suck d**k in a parking lot put your cellphone light up, you know what my gay fans did? They put their motherf**king light up… cause my gay fans, they ain’t going for that, they got class.

“They ain’t sucking no d**k in no parking lot, you gotta get a room… good one, five star hotel for the night.”

He added: “We ain’t just going for nothing, even my gay fans got standards. Y’all n****s trippin’. Y’all bringing negative attention and energy upon yourselves and the ones that’s doing it is ones who didn’t even attend the show, so this s**t don’t concern y’all at all.”

DaBaby closed out his rant by slamming those who “butt in” on other people’s business, adding that people shouldn’t be “disturbing” his gay fans.

The rapper’s comments come shortly after he was widely criticised by social media users and by a HIV charity for his comments about gay people and about the virus.

Richard Angell of the Terrence Higgins Trust told PinkNews: “It’s wrong for people living with HIV to be made to feel lesser or excluded because of their diagnosis – it should be unacceptable in the musical industry and in society at large.”

He added: “Comments like DaBaby’s perpetuate HIV-related stigma and discrimination, as well as spreading misinformation about HIV. You can now live a long, healthy life with HIV thanks to medical progress when you’re diagnosed and accessing treatment.”
