Dominic Cummings has tried to jump on the Free Britney bandwagon, and it’s safe to say it backfired badly.
The former chief advisor to Boris Johnson, having spilled almost every secret going from his time working for the prime minister, decided to turn his attention to international legal issues in a perplexing tweet on Monday evening (26 July).
Writing on Twitter, Dominic Cummings called on Britney Spears’ team to write letters to members of Congress, California governor Gavin Newsom and to Joe Biden’s staff asking if they “support the shocking conservatorship laws”.
“They won’t and the tide will Free Britney,” Cummings added, imploring his followers to retweet his comments.

Needless to say, Twitter had a field day at Cummings’ tweet – and the replies were priceless.

Dominic Cummings truly baffling intervention in Britney Spears’ legal battle comes after a turbulent few weeks for the “Toxic” singer.
In June, she broke her silence about her conservatorship during a virtual court appearance, describing the legal arrangement that has allowed her father to control various aspect of her life as “abusive”.
Her court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham III subsequently resigned, allowing her to hire her own legal representation for the first time.
It seems unlikely that Britney Spears has been waiting patiently for Dominic Cummings to intervene in her case, but we’re sure the internet will be watching closely to see if she responds.
On Monday (26 July), Spears’ new lawyer Mathew Rosengart officially filed to have her father Jamie Spears removed from her conservatorship – so the singer’s freedom could be on the horizon.
We can only imagine Cummings is waiting with baited breath to see if Spears will be allowed to make her own choices about her own life once more.
