Shakira shares cryptic lesbian flag picture and excited fans can’t deal

Shakira shared a “blurred lesbian flag” on her social media accounts, and everyone is making the same joke.
On Monday night (12 July), the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer changed her header photos and profile pictures on her social media channels to a blurred mix of pink, white, orange and red.
The cryptic image change was, of course, designed to promote Shakira’s new music – she also shared a pre-save link for her upcoming single, which also conveniently bears the colours of the lesbian flag.
Twitter immediately went into overdrive, and queer Shakira fans just can’t stop seeing the similarities between her new imagery and the lesbian flag.

While we would all love if Shakira came out as a lesbian, the Columbian singer has been in a relationship with Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué since 2011, and the pair have two children together.
Of course, that doesn’t mean she’s straight – she could be bisexual, queer, pansexual – but if she is, she has never officially come out.
Shakira has confirmed that new music is on the way
Shakira changed her social images to the colours of the lesbian flag just weeks after she told Vogue Mexico that her new single would be released in July.
The singer also confirmed that she had already filmed the music video for the upcoming track.
“I feel very energetic, eager to work, and very inspired,” she said.
“I’m on full throttle, doing a lot of songs. I’m in the process of mixing that song that’s coming out in July.”
The singer said she will continue releasing new songs throughout the rest of this year, with the album likely getting a release in 2022.
Fans have been waiting with baited breath for a new Shakira album since 2017 when she released her eleventh record El Dorado.
The album proved hugely successful, helping her win the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. The feat made Shakira the first female Latin artist to nab the award.
