Caitlyn Jenner was targeted with vile transphobic abuse by a heckler while attending the Conservative Political Action Conference.

The former Olympian and reality television star is currently running as a conservative candidate in California’s recall election against Democratic governor Gavin Newsom.

Caitlyn Jenner appeared at (CPAC) in Dallas on Friday (9 July), where she was repeatedly deadnamed by a man wielding a camera in the lobby of the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

PatriotTakes, a Twitter account that calls out right-wing bigotry, shared a clip of the shocking incident on social media.

Caitlyn Jenner called a ‘sick freak’ by transphobic heckler

In the clip, the man can be heard calling Caitlyn Jenner by her deadname as she poses with a group of fans.

“What do you think about the stuff that they’re teaching in schools regarding the LGBTQ?” the heckler asks Jenner, who insistently ignores him.

He goes on to tell Jenner that she must not “forget about Jesus” as she walks away, leaving the hotel with her team.

“Look at that sick freak,” the man says as he watches Jenner get into a waiting car.

Caitlyn Jenner was targeted by the transphobic heckler on the same day that she gave her first press conference since announcing her intention to run in April.

Speaking to reporters, Jenner described herself as “an inclusive Republican”, adding that she hopes the party “becomes more inclusive”.

She also said she has “not spoken” to Donald Trump about her gubernatorial dreams.

“Honestly, I’m more concerned about just running for governor,” Jenner said.

Jenner went on to suggest that opinion polls, which show that she has only limited support, are inaccurate.

“People are learning more about me as we go through this process about my political beliefs and how I would govern,” Jenner said.

“So no, honestly, I’m not concerned about the polling. I’ve been in a lot of races in my life, and I know how to win.”
