Twitch streamer lilsimsie has raised $15,000 for the Transgender Law Center.

To celebrate Pride, trans ally lilsimsie ran a charity stream playing The Sims 4 and collected donations from viewers, with a goal of $10,000 that she exceeded.

In a tweet after the stream, lilsimsie thanked viewers for the donations.

She said: “not only did we raise $15,000 for the Transgender Law Center today, our community has now raised $800,000 in total for charity on our Twitch channel.

“You are the coolest, and I am so lucky to be a part of such an incredible, generous group. Thank you.”

On Twitch, lilsimsie has a huge following of 443k where she plays predominantly simulation games like The Sims 4 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

She spent the stream building in the game (plus some Mario Kart) and was inundated with messages of thanks and support for the trans community.

Speaking to Pink News, lilsimsie noted how important it was to use her platform.

“I know there are a lot of trans kids that watch my content online, and I want them to know that they are loved and supported,” she said. “I’ve been given a massive platform, and it’s really important to me to use that platform to give back.

“I don’t do this alone – I am constantly blown away by the kindness and generosity of the people in my Twitch community. Together we can do so much, and this weekend we raised over $15,000 in just a few hours for the Transgender Law Center.”

The Transgender Law Center is based in the US and is a trans-led organisation founded on legal expertise to support the trans community and are committed to racial justice.
