‘Diverse’ new racing game Forza Horizon 5 will add pronouns to extensive character customisation

Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5, the next entry in the Xbox exclusive racing series, will include pronoun options in its character customiser.

The game was revealed at the Xbox E3 showcase, though further details have been uncovered in an FAQ on the game’s website.

Various new modes will be included in the game, such as the EventLab to create your own races and a story campaign.

Most interesting is not just car customisation, but player character customisation.

The character customiser has been “improved to provide players with a more diverse cast of selectable characters” reads the FAQ.

“New customisation options include the ability to customise hair style and colour, select prosthetic limbs, choose pronouns, select from different voices and the ability to purchase clothing with credits.”

How this will impact gameplay is unknown, but it’s a great step towards ensuring the game is inclusive to all players.

The open world racing game will be set in Mexico and features stunning photo-realistic graphics.

The game was a highlight of the Xbox showcase, truly proving the power of the Xbox Series X/S consoles.

As you’d expect, the cars look shinier than ever. But it’s the environments, lighting, and weather effects that really look gorgeous.

Plus the new gameplay modes ensure Forza Horizon 5 will be more than just a racing simulator.

The reveal was one of 30 games shown at the presentation, the majority of which will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, proving the value for money of the subscription.

Starfield, Halo Infinite and new vampire shooter Redfall were among the other games shown – get the full rundown here.

Forza Horizon 5 will be released on 9 November this year on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
