RuPaul thinks these queens are ‘two of the greatest ever’ on Drag Race
RuPaul dropped a huge truth bomb during a surprise appearance at the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted special, revealing which queens she thinks are among the “greatest ever” to feature on the show.
RuPaul’s Drag Race bagged three awards at the reality TV awards show, taking home Best Competition Series, Best Reality Cast and Best Host.
Season 13 winner Symone and finalist Gottmik accepted the award for Best Reality Cast. Gottmik, who was the first openly trans masculine contestant on Drag Race, joked: “I hate our cast, but I love that you guys love them”.
As the two queens gave their acceptance speech, the doors behind them opened to reveal RuPaul and Michelle Visage. RuPaul joined the queens for a sweet reunion, wishing them “condragulations” on the award.
“I’ve got to say you two are a perfect example of why our casting is so great,” RuPaul said. “You’re two of the greatest cast members we have ever had on our little show.”

Visage used the award show to call on viewers to go out and support local drag events as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted across the world. She said: “Now that all this is lifting and performances are open, bars are open and your drag brunches are open, please go and support your local queens.”
Gottmik revealed in an interview with Attitude that RuPaul gave her a warm welcome to Drag Race. The queen said Mama Ru was “super-excited and really supported me”. Gottmik added she “just really clicked” with the drag legend.
Drag Race has garnered dozens of awards since it premiered in 2009. It broke multiple records during the 2020 Emmy Awards, with RuPaul claiming his fifth consecutive win for outstanding host for a reality or competition program.
The show itself also became the Emmys’ most-awarded competition show in history as it collected its 19th collective Emmy win – with six wins coming in 2020 alone. It broke the record previously held by ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, which has won 17 awards over the last 15 years.
