Sarah Silverman calls out Caitlyn Jenner over backwards views on trans athletes: ‘This is transphobia full stop’

Sarah Silverman called out Caitlyn Jenner for her “transphobic” position against trans girls participating in girls’ sports.

Caitlyn Jenner likely lost what little LGBT+ support she had last week by publicly opposing trans equality in sports, claiming that allowing trans athletes to compete under their gender identity “just isn’t fair”.

The former Olympian later followed this up with disastrous Fox News interview in which she praised Donald Trump as a “disruptor” and declared she doesn’t care what people think of her views on trans athletes.

Caitlyn Jenner’s deeply unpopular opinions saw her skewered on The Sarah Silverman Podcast as the comic highlighted the many physical differences between cis athletes that convey advantages in sports.

“Caitlyn, you’re a woman, right?” Silverman asked. “A trans girl is a girl. She should have the same rights as cis girls.

“What, you think a trans girl is too strong? What about tall girls as opposed to short girls? What about boys in high school who are teeny tiny and their teammates have already hit puberty and are shaving? Why don’t you just have co-ed sports divided by weight and height, you know?

“This is so dumb. They are legislating this s**t without one single example of how this plays out.”

Silverman is correct in noting that the much-reviled trans sports bans are backed by no real-world evidence, with Republican lawmakers unable to give examples of this issue outside their own heads.

This point was underscored by a recent CNN report which compiled clips of Democratic lawmakers questioning their Republican counterparts, who couldn’t cite any evidence beyond anecdotes from other states.

And while the bills are designed to look constituent-led, LGBT+ legal advocates have repeatedly warned that they’re actually part of a coordinated “culture war” pushed by the same anti-LGBT+ Christian groups that campaigned against marriage equality.

Silverman nodded to this as she said: “This is not worrying about girls’ sports, believe me. I think there are better ways to worry about girls’ sports.

“This is not what that is, this is not concern for girls’ sports, this is transphobia full stop. It’s just such a bummer when such a prominent trans woman is such a t**t.”
