Donald Trump, humanity’s greatest living embarrassment, throws a tantrum over Facebook not being his friend

Donald Trump threw a tantrum Wednesday (5 May) after Facebook’s oversight board upheld his ban on the social media platform.

Trump spoke after Facebook’s Oversight Committee, an independent, Facebook-appointed panel that scrutinises the company’s decisions, upheld his suspension from the platform.

The 74-year-old hopped onto his blog, From the Desk of Donald J Trump, to call bans by Facebook, as well as Twitter and Google-owned YouTube, “a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our country”.

“Free Speech has been taken away from the president of the United States because the Radical Left Lunatics are afraid of the truth, but the truth will come out anyway, bigger and stronger than ever before,” he fumed in the blog post.

“The People of our Country will not stand for it! These corrupt social media companies must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our Electoral Process.”

Trump’s rant came after the Oversight Committee’s decision, with the 20-strong panel saying Facebook was right to bar Trump after he stoked the violence of the Capitol Riots.

However, they continued, as much as Facebook was “justified” in its move, the indefinite suspension was not “appropriate” because this is not a typical penalty the platform hands down.

As per Facebook policy, a permanent ban or a temporary suspension must be enforced instead. Ultimately, the decision was kicked back to Facebook, who must make a final call in six months’ time.

It’s a decision that could throw a wrench into his potential re-election bid, considering that his 2016 campaign team once credited Facebook as the “reason we won this thing” for allowing the Trump team to reach millions online with targeted ads.
