Sky: Children of the Light comes to Nintendo Switch in June with closed beta next month
Thatgamecompany’s Sky: Children of the Light will be coming to Nintendo Switch in June.
Before that, gamers can sign up for closed beta access to test the game next Month.
The developer is best known for the stunning Journey that won multiple awards on its release in 2012.
Sky: Children of the Light debuted in July 2019 on mobile devices. Described as a “social adventure game”, it features a similar art style to Journey and sees you exploring a world in the clouds alongside friends.
On Switch, the game will be free-to-start with cross-play capabilities with existing mobile players.
Next month, from 6 May, a closed beta for the Switch version will take place to test out the game on the console with a small pool of users.
A form will be made available on the Sky Twitter account from 22 April until 26 April where fans can sign up to the closed beta.
They will then be entered into a lottery should they meet requirements.
“We understand (and share!) the enthusiasm for the Switch version of Sky, but we ask that players only sign up if they can commit to testing and providing us feedback,” reads a statement.

“We want to stress that the number of players participating in the closed beta will be far, far smaller than the size of the global player base. The limited tester pool ensures that our small but determined Community team can capture and share feedback to the rest of the team.”
Since its release, Sky has been honoured for its innovative design that focuses on compassion, friendship and altruism.
Players will explore seven realms and solve puzzles using an upgradeable magic cape. You’re able to befriend other players you meet along the journey, with a heavy focus on social mechanics.
Over time, the team has expanded the game with new areas and events. In 2020, players raised $1 million USD in COVID-19 relief funds for Médecins Sans Frontières during the ‘Days of Healing’ event.
